REWARD FOR RETURN

Stolen Dec 2002 Downtown Manhattan: DeWalt Model GP

Portable 8" Radial Arm Saw built 1940's.

Owing to space constraints in my studio apartment, I was keeping my trusty DeWalt in a “friend’s” hardware store, Saber’s at 15 Avenue A between 1st and 2nd Streets in downtown Manhattan. Store manager was Junior Pompey, aka “JR.” On December 3, 2002 the store was Marshall-sealed as tenant had been evicted for lengthy non-payment of rent. In the time since I have been unable to contact Junior but did eventually find and talk with the store’s landlord, Bruce Saber. Bruce had heard rumor that Junior had fled back to the islands whence he came (St Vincent & the Grenadines). Bruce said that there was nothing left in the store when he checked in after the closure, including no trace of my RAS. I had inherited this machine from my father who purchased it in the 1940’s. It has tremendous sentimental as well as functional value for me.

If anybody comes upon something fitting this description please let me know. I will generously reward any pointers that lead to the recovery of my saw. Color was dark (“battleship”) grey, light–moderate rust on underside of arm and cast-iron base. Picture is from the manual and represents it well.

If anyone could put me in touch with Junior or his electrician employee named Louis Barnes that could be helpful also. Their pictures are here. Or if you have any clues whatsoever please email me directly. Thanks.
